Do you know of a book that’s been under represented in the YA blogosphere? Nominate it for inclusion in the Nerds Heart YA tournament by submitting it via this electronic nomination form.
Please note that the following criteria should apply to titles being nominated:
1. Title can have no more than 15 reviews published throughout the book blogosphere
2. Title must be either authored by or include a character within the following category:
- Person(s) of Color (POC)
- GLBT
- Disability/Mental Illness
- Religious Lifestyle
- Lower Socioeconomic Status
3. All titles must have been published between January 1 – December 31, 2009
Titles nominated are not guaranteed inclusion. Their submission is simply to include the title in the long list from which the brackets will be constructed. Please refer to the nominations page to see a full explanation of the selection process.
To participate fill out the NerdsHeart YA nomination form. Individuals may nominate multiple books but each nomination must be done through a separate and individual submission of the form.
Deadline for nominations is March 31.

How will you confirm the low number of reviews?

Susan we’re going to be comparing the nomination against the book blogger review database.

Hi,
is the nominations page not working, or is it me?
Also, i’ve just nominated one book which I am absolutely certain was published in 2009. It’s “Free? short stories celebrating human rights”, as I’ve seen in in the bookshop where I used to work, although I haven’t read it yet. I think it suits the criteria’s perfectly and I’m sure it will be worth reading, but now it appears to be re-published in 2010, and Amazon shows it as not published it yet.
I hope this doesn’t cause the book to be disqualified. Thanks.
ps: I will read it soon and thus confirm that it is indeed published in 2009

Valentina, I was able to click the link above and access the nomination form with no problem. Perhaps it was just a hiccup. Thank you for your nominations!

Hi, just nominated Love is the Higher Law and it is GLBT and POC, just wanted to throw that out there because I’m not sure if that matters for bracketing etc and there wasn’t a way to put it on the form. I’M SO EXCITED.

Hi Lu we didn’t really deal with double diversity for the form, but I will be really excited to see how many book we get which hit a lot of the brackets. For now I’d just pick any one category that applies.
Valentina I’ll check into that for you.
