Do you know of a book that fell through the cracks? A fabulous story that deserves more attention? Here is your opportunity to let us know it deserves to be included in the NerdsHeart YA tournament.
Please note that the following criteria should apply to titles being nominated:
- Title can have no more than 15 reviews published throughout the book blogosphere
- All titles must have been published between January 1 – December 31, 2010
- Title must be either authored by or include a character within the following category:
- Person(s) of Color (POC)
- GLBT
- Disability
- Mental Illness
- Religious Lifestyle
- Lower Socioeconomic Status
- Plus-size
Titles nominated are not guaranteed inclusion — submission is to include the title in the long list from which tournament brackets will be constructed. A panel including the organizers of the tournament and select bloggers with expertise in the above categories will take the list of nominations and construct brackets for the tournament.

I just finished reading MARCELO IN THE REAL WORLD by Francisco X. Stork. It is a fabulous book and the main character has Asperger’s Syndrome. As the parent of a child with disabilities it sudden occured to me what an under-represented section of humanity these kids are in YA lit. I’m going to keep that in mind as I write future novels.
