Just take a picture of one of the books on our short-list somewhere in the wild. Maybe you have a copy of the book at home, or you’ve seen it in a library, a bookshop, or even at a promotional event.

Wherever you see the book, take a picture of the book by itself, or put yourself in the picture. Then post it somewhere (On your blog, your Facebook page, your tumblr account, or Twitter account etc). Drop us a link to where you’ve posted in the comments of this post to be entered into the contest. Please include your email address and specify whether you’d prefer to win prize pack one, or prize pack two.

A few rules and clarifications

The contest closes at midnight GMT June 13th 2011.

One entry per person. No matter how many pictures you take, or how many times you post them you get the one entry into the contest.

You must leave an email address to be entered. If we can’t contact you, we can’t find out where our authors should be sending the prizes.

Anyone apart from NHYA organisers can take part in this contest, including judges and consultants.

All entries will go into a random draw. Two entries will be chosen using a random number generator. Each chosen entry will win one of our prize packs. We’ll try to accomodate your first choice of prize pack as far as possible.

If you don’t have any kind of social media accounts that you can post the picture at we’ll accept entries emailed to nerdsheartya at googlemail dot com Please mark any emailed entries ‘Nerds Heart YA Photo Contest’.

Below you can see a graphical representation of the NHYA 2011 Brackets (click to enlarge).

The graphic shows which books are matched against each other in the first round, as well as which judges books could potentially filter through to in later rounds. The brackets are colour coded into pairs and I’ll quickly explain that system, using an example:

If you look down at the bottom, left hand side  of the graphic you’ll see our first round judges Stella Matutina and Sunshine and Bones.

Stella Matutina will read both green coloured books that float around their name, while the judge above her Sunshine and Bones will read both red coloured books that float around their name.

Each judge will read their two assigned books and decide which one they think deserves to go into the second round. Lisa the Nerd and My Reading Frenzy will read the two books that filter through to them and make a decision, as a pair, about which book they think should move into the third round. And so on…

Each first round judging bracket will announce its decision on a specific day. The dates are as follows:

13th June This Purple Crayon/Book Addiction
13th June VioletCrush/The Literary Wife
15th June Pineapples & Pyjamas/Book Harbinger
(Edit) 21st June Birdbrain(ed) Book Blog/ Bookworming in the 21st Century
17th June Secret Dreamworld of a Bookaholic
17th June Books, Movies and Chinese Food/The Brain Lair
20th June The Wandering Librarians – Arianna/The Wandering Librarians – Anna
